Ananta Basudeva Temple is a Hindu temple, which is dedicated to Lord Krishna (Avatar of Lord Vishnu) located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It is a belief that it was constructed in the 13th century. You can find complete idols of Lord Krishna, Balaram, and Subhadra inside the temple. This temple dates back to the period of Chandrika Devi (Daughter of Anangabhima III) during the rule of King Bhanudeva.

Ananta Basudeva temple has a lot of miniature shrines, and most of them are of female sculptures also highly ornamented. Before the temple was constructed in the 13th century, an idol of Lord Vishnu was worshiped here. According to locals, the older temple existed at the same site. Lastly, Marathas renovated the Ananta Basudeva Temple in the late 17th century. 

Beautiful Sculpture

The temple has the same design as the Eastern Ganga Dynasty. It has beautiful carvings inside and outside of the temple. The exotic sculptures inside the temple are so beautifully crafted. 

There are two well-known attractions you can find near the Ananta Basudeva Temple, those are Bindu Sagara Lake and Lingaraj Temple. Bindu Sagara Lake is known as one of the biggest water lakes in Bhubaneswar. 

According to the legends, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati came to this place to destroy the demons. During their journey, Goddess Parvati felt thirsty, at that time Lord Shiva created a spring out of his Trishul. That spring is believed to be the source of this beautiful Bindu Sagar Lake. That’s why this lake is used in every ritual of Lingaraj Temple. Ananta Basudeva Temple is also located on the eastern side of Bindu Sagara. You can enjoy this beautiful lake from the temple premises. 

Bindusagar Lake Bhubaneswar

Nowadays daily arati is organized inside this temple. During the Janmashtami festival, the temple is decorated with lots of flowers. The layouts of this temple is different from other temples in Odisha. 

From October to February are the best time to visit this temple as well as Bhubaneswar. The weather is quite pleasant at this time.
